The economics of interface development
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper argues that decision theory can be used to identify diierent attitudes towardsùsability engineering'. The advocates of formal methods and ethnomethodology argue that initial investments ooer substantial beneets to subsequent development. For other groups, high cost techniques are seen to ooer few rewards for interface design. The following pages exploit utility curves to represent these diierent perspectives. The intention is not to map out all of the complex factors that aaect human decision making but to focus on the interaction between issues of cost and probability in commercial project management. Decision theory provides analytical techniques that can be applied to the resulting models. In particular, risk preference coeecients are used to explain part of the reluctance to exploitàdvanced' design techniques for human computer interfaces. Later sections exploit the utility curves to identify an agenda for future research in human computer interaction.

Exogenous Polysaccharidases for Young Ruminants: A Review Interfacing Nutrition, Economics, and Health
Neonate ruminants possess little cell-wall and starch degrading enzyme activity. Importantly, early establishment of fibrolytic, amylolytic, and proteolytic capacities is influential for the early expansion of the reticulorumen epithelia. Such an early development in reticulorumen fermentation will enable a timely hepatic adaptation to volatile fatty acids assimilation. The early nutrient relea...
متن کاملSoftware Implementation and Experimentation with a New Genetic Algorithm for Layout Design
This paper discusses the development of a new GA for layout design. The GA was already designed and reported. However the implementation used in the earlier work was rudimentary and cumbersome, having no suitable Graphical User Interface, GUI. This paper discusses the intricacies of the algorithm and the GA operators used in previous work. It also reports on implementation of a new GA operator ...
متن کاملInterface between L2 learners’ pragmatic performance, language proficiency, and individual/group ZPD
One of the theories accounting for pragmatic development of L2 learners is Vygotsky’s (1978) sociocultural theory. This study investigated the development of EFL learners' pragmatic competence through the lens of an important concept of Vygotsky’s theory, i.e. the zone of proximal development. The study was conducted to answer two questions. The first question was wheth...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Speller System Based on SSVEP Signals
BCI is one of the most intriguing technologies among other HCI systems, mostly because of its capability of recording brain activities. Spelling BCIs, which help paralyzed people to maintain communication, are one of the striking topics in the field of BCI. In this scientific a spelling BCI system with high transfer rate and accuracy that uses SSVEP signals is proposed. In addition, we suggested...
متن کاملThe Impact of Health Sector Development on Tourism Development
Background: One of the most common mistakes in tourism policy is to focus solely on the tourist attractions without considering the environmental conditions and facilities in the community. Access to quality health services in the destination country is one of the most important facilities for tourists. The present study investigated the effect of improving the health sector on attracting forei...
متن کاملتحلیلی بر تعاملات اقتصاد توسعه و اخلاق
Economists you usually believe in distinction between economics and ethics. While ethical issues are embedded in economic phenomena, and they are a source of their explanations which have so far been neglected. This neglect is more evident in development economics than other branches of economics. This paper tries to indicate that “ethics” is a related matter in economic issues, especially in d...
